Public Relations FH-USU: On Tuesday, August 27, 2025, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Attorney General's Office in 2025, the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (KEJATI SUMUT) and the Faculty of Law at the University of North Sumatra (FH USU) held a Scientific Seminar. The event, held at the Mock Court Hall of FH USU, was themed "Optimizing Follow The Asset and Follow The Money Approaches Through a Deferred Prosecution Agreement in Handling Criminal Cases."

The seminar was officially opened by the Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (KAJATISU), Dr. Harli Siregar, S.H, M.Hum, with the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. H. ST Burhanuddin, S.H, M.M., serving as the keynote speaker. Dr. Harli Siregar expressed his hope that the seminar would significantly benefit the development of legal science and the practice of criminal law in Indonesia.

The event was attended by notable figures, including the Rector of USU, represented by the Vice-Rector IV, Prof. Dr. Drs. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc.; the Dean of FH USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum.; the Vice-Dean III, Dr. Mohammad Ekaputra, S.H., M.Hum.; and the Head of the FH USU Alumni Association, Dr. Hasrul Benny Harahap, S.H., M.Hum.

The seminar featured prominent speakers: Professor of Criminal Law at FH USU, Prof. Dr. Alvi Syahrin, S.H., M.S.; and the Head of the Medan High Court, Dr. H. Siswandriyono, S.H, M.Hum. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Mahmud Mulyadi, SH.M.Hum (FH USU Lecturer) and emceed by Dr. Detania Sukarja, SH.LLM (FH USU Lecturer).

Participants included heads of District Prosecutor's Offices within the KEJATISU region, District Prosecutor's Branch Heads, structural officials from State-Owned and Regionally-Owned Enterprises, the Civil Society Coalition, as well as lecturers and students from FH USU. The general public could also follow the event live on KEJATISU's Instagram account and the official FH USU YouTube channel.

The seminar covered various references and insights into how the prosecution can transparently and accountably apply the "follow the asset" and "follow the money" approaches through a Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA), based on restorative, corrective, and rehabilitative principles. The discussion also explored the relevance of implementing DPAs in Indonesia. As an authority for prosecutors to postpone prosecution under certain conditions, a DPA is considered an effective means of recovering state losses resulting from criminal offenses, particularly those committed by corporations.
