The meeting began with an introduction delivered by Dr. Henry Sinaga, followed by a presentation of the institution’s profile and an explanation of the purpose and objectives of the visit by the LBH DSS management to the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The Chairperson of LBH DSS, Ade Chandra, S.H., M.M., explained that this visit was the third visit conducted by LBH DSS to a higher education institution in North Sumatra as part of its commitment to expanding its network of cooperation in the legal sector, particularly in supporting the Deli Serdang Sehat program.

Ade Chandra stated that collaboration with the academic community is one of LBH DSS’s strategies to strengthen legal aid services for the community, while also increasing public legal awareness through various educational activities.

“We want to build synergy with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, in the fields of legal education and advocacy. This is in line with the vision and mission of LBH DSS to provide broader legal services to the community,” he said.

He added that the efforts undertaken by LBH DSS are also part of the implementation of the vision and mission mandated by the Regent of Deli Serdang, dr. Asri Ludin Tambunan, in realizing the Deli Serdang Sehat program.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FH USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., welcomed the proposed collaboration offered by LBH DSS. He stated that collaboration between legal aid institutions and educational institutions is a positive step toward increasing legal awareness within the community.

On the occasion, the Dean of FH USU also explained the collaboration concept that has been developed by USU, namely Academic, Business, Government, and Community (ABGC). According to him, this concept serves as a foundation for FH USU in establishing cross-sectoral partnerships to expand the benefits of legal knowledge for the wider community.

Dr. Mahmul Siregar explained that several forms of collaboration programs could be established, including direct cooperation through Community Service, as well as the Off-Study Program Learning (PLPS) collaboration program for FH USU students, such as partner internship programs and structured internships. He expressed hope that future collaboration with LBH DSS could be directed toward these schemes, thereby providing mutual benefits for both FH USU students and the communities targeted by the Deli Serdang Sehat program.

He expressed hope that the proposed collaboration could soon be followed up through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the USU Rectorate, followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of a souvenir from LBH DSS to the Dean of FH USU, followed by a group photo session as a symbol of the establishment of a positive relationship between the two institutions.
