PUBLIC RELATIONS FH-USU: Tuesday (May 12, 2026), the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (Ditjen AHU) of the Indonesian Ministry of Law, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), organized an event entitled “Strengthening the Substance of the Draft Law on Business Entities through Public Participation.” The event took place in the Faculty Advisory Council Room (DPF) of FH USU.

This activity was part of the government’s efforts to encourage the formulation of regulations that are participatory, inclusive, and responsive to public needs, particularly in strengthening the legal framework for business entities in Indonesia.

In his remarks, the Director of Business Entities at Ditjen AHU of the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, Andi Taletting, emphasized that the drafting of the Business Entity Bill is not only related to regulatory harmonization, but also constitutes a strategic necessity in responding to the dynamics of global competition. He stated that the business world is currently moving very rapidly, influenced by digital transformation and global economic integration, requiring Indonesia to adapt its legal framework accordingly.

“As we know, current global competition demands that Indonesia provide legal certainty for business actors while also promoting ease of doing business,” said Andi Taletting.

He added that the resulting regulations must encourage innovation and provide opportunities for new business models emerging in the digital economy era.

“We need to ensure that national legal regulations are able to keep pace with digital and global economic developments so that business actors can operate more effectively and competitively,” he explained.

The Dean of FH USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., stated in his remarks that FH USU, as an academic institution, has a moral and intellectual responsibility to contribute critical and constructive ideas.

“This forum can serve as a productive, open, and substantive discussion space, resulting in valuable recommendations for improving the Business Entity Bill,” said the Dean.

The Dean of FH USU also expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Directorate General of General Legal Administration of the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia for collaborating with FH USU in organizing the event.

“This collaboration is a concrete manifestation of synergy between the government and academia in the process of developing quality legislation,” he stated.

Dr. Mahmul Siregar also thanked the speakers who attended and shared valuable knowledge and academic perspectives. To the participants, the Dean encouraged active participation in the discussion so that the event could provide optimal benefits.

Present as a speaker was Professor of Competition Law at FH USU, Prof. Dr. Ningrum Natasya Sirait, S.H., M.Li., who presented the importance of harmonizing business entity regulations with the principles of fair business competition. In her presentation, she emphasized that legislation must be able to create legal certainty while also encouraging a competitive and equitable business climate.

In addition, FH USU lecturer Dr. Robert, S.H., M.Hum., also provided academic perspectives regarding the substance of the Business Entity Bill, particularly in aspects related to institutional arrangements and the regulation of legal responsibilities of business entities. He highlighted the need for clear legal norms to avoid multiple interpretations during implementation.

Participants in the event consisted of lecturers and students of FH USU who actively engaged in the discussion. The dynamic interaction between speakers and participants reflected the high level of enthusiasm among academics in contributing ideas to the drafting of the bill.

Through this event, it is hoped that input from academics will enrich the substance of the Draft Law on Business Entities, resulting in regulations that are comprehensive, implementable, and aligned with the evolving legal and business needs in Indonesia.
