The Anti-Corruption Law Clinic of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU) held a National Webinar activity, "BUILDING THE CHARACTER OF THE YOUNG GENERATION OF INDONESIA ANTI-CORRUPTION TO REALIZE AN INDONESIA WITHOUT CORRUPTION" This Webinar activity was opened by the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Law, USU, Mrs. Dr. Agusmidah., SH., M.Hum, in her remarks she said that the theme raised in this webinar was very idealistic but it was not impossible that it could happen later, and she also argued that anti-corruption education was critical to implement, especially for young people such as students today.

This webinar was presented directly by Rosihan Juhriah Rangkuti SH MH, an alumnus of the Faculty of Law, University of North Sumatra class of 1988, and works as the Head of the Lubuk Pakam District Court. On this occasion, he explained the history of corruption regulation in Indonesia. These 30 acts are categorized as corruption crimes based on the law, how the criminal law is regulated after the issuance of PERMA 1/2020, Community Participation and Awarding in the Prevention and Eradication of Corruption, and the Role of Millennials in Preventing Corruption. In his presentation, he also explained that the younger generation plays a role as an Agent of Change in Corruption Prevention. The legal awareness of the younger generation about the importance of preventing corruption and developing anti-corruption behavior. Millennials are not objects but subjects in preventing corruption. Mrs. Linda Wahyu Marpaung also presented this Webinar activity; she is an Anti-Corruption Activist from the Advocacy Center for Basic People's Rights (SAHdaR); on this occasion, she presented introductory material on corruption based on several literacies, types of corruption, why we need to learn anti-corruption where it aims to build personality, strengthen sensitivity, and prevent corruption. He also explained various anti-corruption principles and said that many factors cause corruption, and all these factors are centered on one thing: tolerance for corruption. In many ways, corruptors are people who are dissatisfied with their circumstances. When corruption occurs, its impact spreads to almost all aspects of life, whether directly exposed or not; corruption has a rampant effect on all aspects of a country.

This Webinar activity was closed with a closing statement from the Two Speakers. Mrs. Rosihan Juriah Rangkuti., SH., MH and Mrs. Linda Wahyu Marpaung. In the closing statement, both speakers emphasized the importance of anti-corruption education from an early age so that it can become a provision for the character of the birth of an anti-corruption generation. This webinar was hosted by Subhana Kurniawan Tarigan who is a member of the USU FH Anti-Corruption Law Clinic, moderated by Hosea P Octravy Sembiring, who is also a member of the USU FH Anti-Corruption Law Clinic. This event was opened at 09.00 WIB and was attended by 121 participants via Zoom media. The discussion continued orderly and smoothly until the end of the event at 11.20 WIB. (Laks/Sad)
