HUMAS FH-USU: On Wednesday (August 5, 2026), the Faculty of Law of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), through its Master’s Program in Law, participated in a Knowledge-Sharing Session with the Master’s Program in Law of the Faculty of National Security at the Republic of Indonesia Defense University (UNHAN RI). The session, themed “Emergency Law in Addressing Economic Crises in Indonesia,” was held via Zoom Meeting.
The session opened with a speech by Major General TNI Dr. Nefra Firdaus, S.E., M.M., Dean of the Faculty of National Security at the Republic of Indonesia Defense University. Also attending the event were the Dean of the Faculty of Law of USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., and the Head of the Master’s Program in Law at USU, Dr. Mahmud Mulyadi, S.H., M.Hum.
During the forum, presentations were delivered by two student representatives from each institution: Dhara Syera Fatria from the Master’s Program in Law at the Republic of Indonesia Defense University and Amelia Ariana Lestari from the Master’s Program in Law at USU. The two presenters were accompanied by faculty advisors from their respective universities, namely Brigadier General TNI Dr. Parluhutan Sagala, S.H., M.H., from the Republic of Indonesia Defense University, and Dr. Rosmalinda, S.H., LL.M., Secretary of the Master’s Program in Law at USU.
The discussion focused on two main aspects:
A review of economic crises that have occurred in Indonesia, ranging from the 1950s, the 1997–1998 monetary crisis, to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
A normative study of emergency law from a non-military defense perspective.
This collaboration is part of efforts to strengthen academic quality, develop inter-university networks, and enhance student capacity through scholarly discussions, academic presentations, and the development of joint publications in the field of law.
Through this forum, students and faculty members from both institutions are expected to exchange ideas, broaden their academic perspectives, and produce constructive academic recommendations to strengthen the national legal system, law enforcement, and public policy development in Indonesia.
FH USU welcomes this academic synergy as part of its commitment to supporting excellent and collaborative legal higher education oriented toward the advancement of knowledge and the interests of society.
