The Doctoral Program in Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (Doctoral Program in Law USU) held a webinar, "Increasing Knowledge of Legal Protection in the Digital World for E-commerce Users in Medan." The webinar event held hybrid, took place in the Postgraduate Building of the Faculty of Law USU.

The Doctoral Program in Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (Doctoral Program in Law USU) held a webinar, "Increasing Knowledge of Legal Protection in the Digital World for E-commerce Users in Medan." The webinar event held hybrid, took place in the Postgraduate Building of the Faculty of Law USU and was part of the International Collaboration between the Faculty of Law USU and Kyushu University-Japan. 

 

The webinar activity presented resource persons, Prof. Steven Van Uytsel, who is an Associate Professor at the Department of International Legal Studies, Kyushu University, Japan, and Prof. Dr. Ningrum Natasya Sirait, SH., M.Li, Head of the Doctoral Program in Law, Faculty of Law USU. The opening of the webinar activity began with an opening speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Law USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M.Hum, and from the Head of the Community Service Institute of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Tulus, Vor.Dipl.Math, M.Si, Ph.D.

The Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M. Hum, in his welcoming speech in English, said that the USU Faculty of Law had the opportunity to invite Prof. Steven Van Utsyel from Kyushu University to participate in this webinar. The aim was to share information and experiences on how Japan or the city of Fukuoka faces digital world problems, especially from a legal perspective.

 

The webinar, attended by participants from undergraduate, master's, and doctoral law students, discussed the challenges and effectiveness of sales through e-commerce, increased knowledge and understanding of legal protection for e-commerce sellers in the digital world, and exchanging experiences on how other countries or cities respond to the new era in the digital market when doing business.
