Thursday, 11/18/2021 The National Webinar Committee of the Legal Clinic of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, consisting of the Women and Children's Law Clinic, the Anti-Corruption Law Clinic, and the Civil Law Clinic, held a National Webinar event entitled "Corruption in a Gender Perspective." The National Webinar of the Legal Clinic started at 14.00 WIB and was attended by 180 people. Amanda Tarigan hosted it as the MC.

The National Webinar Committee of the Legal Clinic of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, consisting of the Women and Children's Law Clinic, the Anti-Corruption Law Clinic, and the Civil Law Clinic, held a National Webinar event entitled "Corruption in a Gender Perspective." The National Webinar of the Legal Clinic started at 14.00 WIB and was attended by 180 people. Amanda Tarigan hosted it as the MC.

 

This Webinar event was held online via Zoom Meeting. It was opened by the Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, and the speakers in this national webinar were the Head of the Kayuagung District Court, Tira Tirtona, S.H., M.Hum., Academician of the Universitas Indonesia Dr. Lidwina Inge Nurtjahyo, S.H., M.Hum., and Professor of the USU Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu, S.H., M.Hum. Also attended by Vice Dean 1 of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Agusmidah, S.H., M.Hum. and the USU Faculty of Law Clinic lecturers. In his remarks, the Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., explained that Corruption is a despicable act and has caused damage to people's lives, increased poverty, and hampered economic growth. He also said that this National Webinar is engaging for us to follow to examine the relationship between perpetrators of corruption and gender perspectives, and by implementing this webinar, the knowledge of male and female students can increase.

 

Dr. Lidwina Inge Nurtjahyo, S.H., M.Hum., the first speaker in her presentation, explained that both men and women could have the principle of caution or anti-corruption. On the other hand, both men and women can be equally vulnerable to corruption and corrupt behavior as long as there is no good supervision and the condition of an institution is also unhealthy.

 

Tira Tirtona, S.H., M.Hum., as the second resource person in her presentation, explained that corruption is an extraordinary crime that has an impact that can cause damage to people's lives. For this reason, comprehensive handling of corruption is needed through political strategies or approaches and economic, social, and cultural development. Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu, S.H., M.Hum., as the third resource person in her presentation, explained that in the perspective of preventing corruption, of course, there is a comparison between fathers as men and mothers as women, and those who play an essential role in educating children are generally greater in the hands of wives. Therefore, she hopes that for women, although emancipation is still ongoing, Indonesian women will be wise in choosing a profession so that with their profession, they can also maintain their primary duties as housewives.

 

With the implementation of the National Webinar of the USU Faculty of Law Legal Clinic, it is hoped that all Academicians and all elements of society will increasingly understand the Criminal Act of Corruption, especially in the Gender Perspective, and the dangers and impacts of the Criminal Act of Corruption.
