The Master of Law Program (MIH) at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU FH), once again held an inspiring guest lecture, this time titled "Cybercrime and human rights violations in the case of illegal online loans in Cambodia: An analysis of victim protection within the ASEAN framework." The event was opened by the Secretary of the MIH Program, Dr. Mahmud Mulyadi, S.H., M.Hum.

Speaker, Associate Professor Cekli Setya Pratiwi, SH., LL.M., M.CL., Ph.D., holds degrees from universities in three different countries: an LL.M. in International and European Human Rights Protection from Utrecht University, a Master's in Comparative Law from Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. in Human Rights and Peace Studies from Mahidol University. Drawing on her experience in law and human rights, Pratiwi shared valuable insights with students. Moderated by Dr. Rosmalinda, SH., LLM, a lecturer from the Faculty of Law at USU, the event was interactive and filled with new learning experiences.

During the question-and-answer session, students enthusiastically asked questions, demonstrating their curiosity and understanding of the material presented. Students comprehensively understood the threats and methods of cybercrime in the ASEAN region and highlighted their links to human rights violations.

This guest lecture is expected to enhance students' abilities in cross-border legal analysis, concrete case-based research, the production of scientific solutions, and an active role in community empowerment related to cybercrime and human rights protection in the ASEAN region.
