The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., accompanied USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., along with members of the university leadership, at the 2026 National Dialogue of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI), held from June 26 to 28, 2026, at Hall B, Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).

The Dean's participation in this national strategic forum reflects the Faculty of Law's active role in supporting USU's contribution to Indonesia's development through the advancement of science, technology, research, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration, including from the perspectives of law and public policy.

Carrying the theme "Strategies for Indonesia's Economic Independence and Prosperity," the dialogue aimed to formulate science-based strategic recommendations to support the government in strengthening national development. The participation of the Dean of the Faculty of Law, alongside the deans of other faculties at USU, demonstrated the University's interdisciplinary approach to addressing national development challenges.

In addition to the Dean of the Faculty of Law, the USU delegation included Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., the Chair of the Academic Senate, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees (MWA), the Vice Rector for Cooperation, the Vice Rector for Planning, the University Secretary, the deans of the Faculties of Psychology, Engineering, Forestry, Agriculture, and Vocational Education, as well as the Director of Public Relations, Promotion, and Protocol.

The forum, organized through a collaboration between the Council of Rectors of Indonesian State Universities (MRPTNI), the Indonesian Rectors Forum, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, brought together representatives from higher education institutions and key national stakeholders to discuss priority issues in Indonesia's development. These included the economy and finance, agriculture, food security, energy, downstream industrial development, marine and fisheries, as well as education.

The involvement of the Dean of the Faculty of Law in discussions on these strategic issues is in line with the role of higher education institutions as key contributors to producing highly qualified human resources, fostering innovation, and generating research-based ideas, including legal and regulatory studies that support public policy development.

The recommendations produced during the 2026 KSTI National Dialogue are expected to serve as a strategic foundation for promoting inclusive, adaptive, and competitive national development while advancing Indonesia's economic independence and public welfare. The active participation of the Dean of the USU Faculty of Law also reaffirms the Faculty's commitment to contributing to national forums that generate meaningful impacts on the country's development.
