FH-USU Public Relations: (24/06/2026) As part of efforts to enhance awareness and understanding of global humanitarian issues, a live discussion titled "Situation in Refugee Camps: Live Discussion From Rohingya Refugee Camps in Bangladesh–Myanmar Borderland" was held, featuring Dr. Rosmalinda, S.H., LL.M. as the keynote speaker.

The discussion highlighted the current conditions of Rohingya refugees living in camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. In her presentation, Dr. Rosmalinda explained that the Rohingya crisis remains one of the world's most complex humanitarian crises, with no comprehensive and sustainable solution achieved to date.

More than one million Rohingya refugees continue to live under difficult conditions, heavily dependent on international humanitarian assistance. The challenges they face extend beyond limited access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, healthcare, and education, encompassing legal protection, security, and the fulfillment of fundamental human rights.

During the discussion, Dr. Rosmalinda emphasized that women and children are the most vulnerable groups, facing heightened risks of violence, exploitation, and restricted access to essential services. She also noted that the decline in international humanitarian assistance has had a significant impact on the living conditions of the refugees.

Furthermore, she stressed that resolving this crisis requires a strong commitment from the international community. Any repatriation process to Myanmar must be carried out in a safe, voluntary, and dignified manner, with guarantees for the protection of fundamental rights, including the recognition of citizenship for the Rohingya people.

The discussion was expected to serve as a constructive platform for fostering greater public awareness while strengthening cross-sector collaboration among governments, academics, and international organizations in formulating fair and sustainable solutions.

As part of the academic community's contribution, this event also reflects the active role of higher education institutions in examining and responding to global issues, particularly those related to international law and human rights.
