PUBLIC RELATIONS FH-USU: Friday (May 22, 2026), the Faculty of Law of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU) held the Intensive Career Bootcamp 2026 themed “Preparing Law Graduates for the Modern Workplace” at the Moot Court Building Hall of FH USU. The activity aimed to prepare students to face the dynamics and demands of today’s professional world.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of FH USU, Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., who emphasized in his remarks that the professional world continues to undergo significant changes. “Graduates of the Faculty of Law are required not only to understand theories and regulations, but also to possess practical, adaptive, and professional skills to face the challenges of the modern era. Through this activity, students are equipped with various essential competencies, ranging from soft skills, professional communication, leadership, and digital technology to career-building strategies in the industrial world,” he stated.

Also present at the event was the Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations, Agusmidah, S.H., M.Hum. The activity was attended by students of the Undergraduate Law Study Program of FH USU, with Devi Yulida, S.H., M.H., serving as moderator. During the presentation session, the first speaker, Teguh Abyasa of Musim Mas Group, discussed the topic “Starting a Brilliant Career in the Corporate and Industrial World.” He explained various strategic career opportunities for law graduates in the corporate sector, such as External Relation Officer, Government Relation Officer, CSR Officer, Community Development Officer, Public Relation Officer, Corporate Legal Officer, Human Resource Officer, Litigation Officer, and Industrial Relation Officer.

He also emphasized the importance of mastering fundamental skills sought after by industries, such as communication, advocacy, negotiation, and coordination. “The main tips are to know yourself, understand your strengths and weaknesses, and actively expand your social network,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the second speaker, Susanto Haryono from PT HM Sampoerna Tbk, delivered a presentation titled “Bridging Law Education to Corporate Excellence.” He highlighted that the world is currently facing global disruptions in the fields of economy, technology, and society. According to him, it is estimated that 78 million new jobs will be created globally by 2030, while at the same time there will be significant changes in workforce skill requirements. “As many as 39% of workers’ core skills will change, 63% of employers consider skill gaps to be the main obstacle, and 85% of companies prioritize workforce upskilling,” he explained. He added that the key skills needed toward 2030 include analytical thinking, resilience, flexibility, leadership, creativity, technological literacy, understanding of AI and big data, and a lifelong learning mindset.

Furthermore, he encouraged students to build a strong foundation during their university years through three main aspects: leadership, diverse collaboration, and analytical thinking. These can be realized through active involvement in organizations, interdisciplinary teamwork, and strengthening data-driven legal analysis and case study skills. Through the Intensive Career Bootcamp 2026, FH USU hopes students will improve their readiness to enter the workforce and become graduates who are competitive, adaptive, and relevant to industry needs in the modern era.
