The Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Curators and Administrators (AKPI), held a National Seminar with the theme "Debt Restructuring as a Solution to Save Businesses During the Covid-19 Pandemic". This national seminar was held in a hybrid manner along with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between AKPI represented by Dr. Jimmy Simanjuntak S.H., M.H. and the Secretary General of AKPI, Dedy Kurniadi, S.H., M.H. with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., and witnessed by the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Si. This MOU is expected to improve knowledge and quality together, especially for educators, students, and Curators/administrators in the North Sumatra region and its surroundings.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created new legal problems for Debtors and Creditors worldwide, including in Indonesia. The issue of debts between Debtors and Creditors has become a concern of the seminar, especially in building legal understanding for the general public. The existence of Law No. 37 of 2004 concerning Bankruptcy and Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations is a regulation that currently exists through the refinement of Failisiment Verodinering. The role of the Manager and Curator, as well as Law Enforcement Officers (Judges and Clerks) in the PKPU/Bankruptcy process, is a necessary party involved in carrying out Management and Settlement for Debtors to answer the problems of Debtors with their Creditors.

The Indonesian Curator and Administrator Association (AKPI), together with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and the Medan District Court Class 1-A, is trying to provide understanding and education to its members internally and the general public. The seminar activities targeted academics, students, lecturers, law enforcers (judges, advocates, curators/managers), and business actors.

This national seminar presented speakers including Dr. Ricardo Simanjuntak, S.H., LL.M., ANZIIF., CIP., MCIArb. as the Chairperson of the AKPI Certification Board, Elyta Ras Ginting, S.H., LL.M. as the High Judge of the Medan High Court, Mrs. Prof. Dr. Sunarmi, S.H., M.Hum as a USU Professor and Dr. Deni Amsari Purba, S.H., LL.M. as the seminar moderator.
