Public Relations FH-USU: Thursday (02/06/2022)

USU Faculty of Law held an online public lecture entitled “The Impact of International Agreements on the Prevention of Forest Fires and Transboundary Haze Pollution” by presenting the speaker Researcher from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, Muhammad Ibnu Khaldun Sitompul, SH., LLM., Ph.D. The Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M.Hum, in his opening remarks, said that the USU Faculty of Law will often hold public lectures to see things that are up to date from various perspectives, especially from lecturers affiliated with foreign countries.

The Dean said, “The topic of today's public lecture is almost every year an international issue and becomes a discussion in our country, pollution or pollution that is ‘transboundary’ in nature such as smoke pollution whether caused by natural events or human activities to clear forests. Because it is “transboundary,” other countries or neighboring countries are disturbed, which may cause losses in industry or losses in their public activities. So, in this case, there must be a state responsibility, namely that each country has responsibility if these things happen, “said the Dean.

Students from the S1, S2, and S3 Law Study Programs of the USU Faculty of Law attended this public lecture. USU Faculty of Law Lecturer Riadhi Alhayyan, SH., MH., who acted as moderator, guided the lecture.
