Wednesday, September 29, 2021 Agrarian Law Students of the Department of State Administrative Law, Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU) held a Public Discussion entitled "Reflection on National Farmers' Day: Indonesia in Crisis, Farmers are Sad. Agrarian Reform!". This Public Discussion event started at 09.30 WIB and was attended by 300 people and hosted by Kelsa Kangnata as the MC. This Public Discussion activity was conducted online via Zoom Meeting and was opened by the Dean of FH USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum. In his remarks, the Dean of FH USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, said that farmers are the group that plays the most crucial role as a buffer for the national economy. However, farmers are also a vulnerable group to various land issues. This Public Discussion is expected to produce ideas that can refer to bright ideas needed to solve all the complex agrarian problems in the country.

The material delivery activity was guided by Moderator Leony Melin and attended by several speakers. First, Supardy Marbun, S.H., M.Hum, as Head of the Center for Development and Standardization of Agrarian, Spatial Planning and Land Policy of the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency, presented the material on the Direction of Agrarian Reform Policy. Second, Erasmus Cahyadi, S.H., Deputy II of the Secretary General of AMAN for Political Affairs, presented the material on Indigenous Peoples and Rights to Their Customary Territories. Third, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yamin,, S.H., M.S., C.N as Professor of Agrarian Law, FH USU who presented the material on Government Duties in the Land Sector, Post-Job Creation Law is Increasingly Dubious. Fourth, from the Head of the Advocacy Department of the Agrarian Reform Consortium, namely Roni Septian, S.H., who presented the material Agrarian Crisis Paradox of Land Grabbing Policy Conditions of Farmers Post-Job Creation Law.

 

This public discussion event ended at 12.50 WIB, and the discussion went smoothly and was conducive. The message conveyed at the end of this public discussion was an invitation to all parties, both academics and practitioners, to be more enthusiastic in voicing agrarian justice and more active in providing views that can later be realized by policymakers in resolving various agrarian conflicts that have been going on for a long time.
