PUBLIC RELATIONS FH-USU: Wednesday (18/06/2025)
The Legal Consultation and Aid Institute of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (LKBH FH USU) again held a series of legal training activities for students in 2025. The Law Training Series-1 activity consists of 2 sessions, namely Legal Due Diligence in the first session and Legal Research and Legal Search in the second session, in the Hall of the FH USU Moot Court Building. The LKBH FH USU legal training activities in 2025 aim to improve legal understanding, skills, and student proficiency.
In the first session of legal training, resource person Dr. Rina Melati Sitompul, SH., M.H. began her training presentation by explaining LDD (Legal Due Diligence), which is often called Due Diligence, as a process of obtaining an overview of a company's risk of compliance or non-compliance with the law. "This audit aims to identify legal risks and assist in decision-making regarding information on problems," explained Dr. Rina.
In the training, Dr. Rina guided the participants through compiling Legal Due Diligence, starting with the first step, identifying the legal areas relevant to the company's business. The second step, Legal Compliance Assessment, assesses the extent to which the company complies with applicable rules and regulations, and the third step is legal Risk Analysis. The training activities lasted until noon and were moderated by Dr. Rosmalinda, S.H., LL.M.

In the second session of legal training, resource person Dr. Jelly Leviza, S.H., M.Hum opened the training by asking the initial question "Why Do We Have to Do Research?", Dr. Jelly explained several points to answer the question, namely because truth is not absolute, truth is in the perspective of space and time, research is necessary as a final assignment for all students for both S-1, S-2, MKn to S-3 (doctoral program) levels, and legal research is essential for all legal officers, lecturers and other professions related to law.
In the training, Dr. Jelly directed the participants through the steps that must be taken to make a research proposal, legal search steps, legal documentation steps, and how to conclude legal searches. Tommy Sinulingga, S.H., M.H., moderated the training activities until the afternoon.
