Public Relations FH USU: Friday (20/06/2025)
The Legal Consultation and Aid Institute of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (LKBH FH USU) held the third series of legal training activities for students in 2025. The second series of Law Training 2025 activities consisted of two sessions: Legal Reasoning Training in the first session and Legal Memorandum Training in the second session, taking place in the Hall of the FH USU Moot Court Building. The LKBH FH USU legal training activities in 2025 aim to improve legal understanding, skills, and student proficiency.
In the legal reasoning preparation training, resource person Dr. Robert, S.H., M.H. began his presentation by explaining that legal reasoning is very important because it can be the basis for the decision-making process by Judges, bridging norms with facts, determining how to interpret the law, ensuring justice and legal certainty, forming the integrity of legal practitioners, and for the development of the law itself.
Dr. Robert said legal reasoning is the art of arranging legal norms and facts. The strength of legal practice lies in the reasoning of its practitioners, not just norms. "A great legal practitioner knows how and why the law is applied," said Dr. Robert.
The resource person in the legal memorandum training session was Dr. Abdul Aziz Alsa. S.H.M.H. directed the training participants on making a legal memorandum, starting from the standard structure, which includes facts, issues, short answers, discussion/analysis, and conclusions, all of which must be organized. Next, the content includes regulations, legal precedents, and doctrines where the case facts are analyzed wholly and relevantly. Using comprehensive research methods and logical reasoning so that it can produce clear, concise, and accurate writing.
