Public Relations FH-USU: Thursday (13/10/22)

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights conducted a socialization activity for the Draft Criminal Code (RUU KUHP) to the public with the title "KUMHAM Goes to Campus" by presenting the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (WAMENKUMHAM) Prof. Dr. Eddy Omar Sharif Hiariej, SH., M.Hum. This activity was held with the support of the USU Faculty of Law and the USU Faculty of Law Alumni Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (KEMENKUMHAM).

WAMENKUMHAM, Prof. Eddy O.S. Hiariej, said this socialization activity aims to capture the aspirations of the community, especially students, because students are critical and idealistic elements of the nation whose aspirations need to be absorbed. In addition, an event like this is significant to introduce KUMHAM to the Campus, provide legal awareness to the public about what KEMENKUMHAM is doing, and bring KEMENKUMHAM closer to the public, said Prof. Eddy O.S. Hiariej.

USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin S.Sos., M.Si thanked KEMENKUMHAM RI for entrusting USU as the KUMHAM Goes to Campus organizer. The Rector hopes that the participants of the socialization will get a good understanding and be constructive and critical in responding to the existence of the RUU KUHP. The Rector appealed to use this opportunity as a positive educational medium to share information and discuss the RUU KUHP. "It is hoped that the participants of the socialization will be able to get the right understanding, a good, balanced, constructive, and critical picture, and think about the existence of the RUU KUHP," said the USU Rector.

In the socialization session of the Draft Criminal Code (RUU KUHP), the organizing committee presented resource persons, Professor of Criminal Law UGM, Prof. Marcus Priyo Gunarto, Criminal Law Expert of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmud Mulyadi, and Expert Staff of MEMKUMHAM for Politics and Security, Ambeg Paramarta.
