Public Relations FH-USU: Saturday - Sunday (03 - 04/11/2024)
HBH CENTER and the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), organized an Advanced Legal Training that provided insights and practical skills in the law field to participants from various backgrounds. The intensive training was attended by 28 participants, including representatives from State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), lecturers, and law graduates eager to develop their expertise in the legal world. This collaboration between HBH CENTER and USU's Faculty of Law demonstrates the seriousness of efforts to improve the legal capacity needed to face modern legal challenges.
The training presented several in-depth materials from leading legal experts with extensive field experience. Each topic provided a comprehensive, applicable, and relevant understanding of the current legal conditions.
Training sessions include:
Legal Analysis (Legal Analyst): Presented by Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., this session provided insights on how proper legal analysis can effectively shape decision-making processes and policies. Dr. Mahmul explained that strong legal analysis requires acumen in reading regulations and expertise in interpreting the legal impact of each case.

Legal Audit: Led by Rina Melati Sitompul, S.H., M.H., this session focused on the importance of legal audit as a strategic preventive measure. Participants were invited to understand the detailed legal audit process, which includes identifying legal risks, evaluating documents, and preparing audit reports to protect companies or organizations from potentially detrimental legal risks.

The Role of the Legal Officer: Ganda Wiatmaja, S.H., M.H., thoroughly explored the functions and responsibilities of a Legal Officer in maintaining legal compliance within the organization. Ganda emphasized that a Legal Officer needs to have a broad understanding of laws and regulations and the ability to apply these rules in daily company operations.

Drafting Legal Opinion, Legal Memorandum, and Legal Due Diligence: Presented by Hasrul Benny Harahap, S.H., M.Hum., equipped participants with the ability to draft important legal documents for the needs of clients or institutions. This session covered techniques for preparing objective and detailed legal opinions, procedures for preparing complete legal memoranda and conducting legal, due diligence to assess the feasibility of a company or project.

Criminal and Civil Procedure Law: In this session, Julisman, S.H., M.H. discussed the details of legal procedures in criminal and civil cases. Julisman explained the stages of procedural law in depth, from document preparation to practice in court, so that participants fully understood how to handle criminal and civil cases.

HBH CENTER Director Arief Hidayat Nasution, S.H. said, “This training is clear evidence of our commitment to advancing the skills of legal practitioners and academics in Indonesia. By presenting experts in the field of law, we want to provide opportunities for participants to gain knowledge and skills through current legal developments. We hope that participants can implement the knowledge they have gained in their work, whether in the government, corporate, or academic sectors.”
HBH CENTER and USU's Faculty of Law believe that this training will improve legal competence in Indonesia. Through this collaboration, both institutions hope to make a real contribution to building the capacity of legal practitioners in the country.
All participants expressed great appreciation for the material delivered and the dedication of the resource persons. At the end of this training, the participants brought home a wealth of knowledge and valuable experiences that can strengthen their legal capabilities to become competent professionals ready to face future legal challenges.
