HUMAS FH-USU. The Master’s Program in Notary at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi) through a Community Service Program held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Al Fityan Integrated Islamic Senior High School. Carrying the theme “Consumer Education for Smart Transactions through the Use of Standard Clauses,” the activity aimed to enhance legal literacy among the public, particularly young people, regarding the importance of understanding their rights and obligations as consumers in every transaction.

During the activity, the community service team from the Master’s Program in Notary at FH USU delivered materials on the concept of standard clauses as regulated under Indonesian laws and regulations, the importance of reading and understanding the terms and conditions of an agreement, and types of clauses that may potentially disadvantage consumers. The materials were presented engagingly and accompanied by examples of cases relevant to everyday life, including buying and selling transactions, the use of digital services, and agreements commonly encountered in daily activities.

The participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the activity. The students not only followed the presentation but also actively participated in discussions and question-and-answer sessions concerning various legal issues commonly encountered in everyday transactions. Through this activity, participants are expected to develop a better understanding of the importance of exercising caution before agreeing to an agreement, enabling them to better protect their rights as consumers.

This Community Service Program represents one of the concrete contributions of the Master’s Program in Notary at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, to disseminating legal knowledge to the public. Through educational initiatives such as this, the Master’s Program in Notary at FH USU continues to promote legal awareness and strengthen the role of higher education institutions in delivering tangible benefits to society through the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi).
