The Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU) and the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (Ditjen PKTN) of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendag RI) have signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) on the Implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education and MBKM in the Field of Consumer Protection, located in the USU Auditorium building. This signing was preceded by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Trade and USU, which was signed by the Minister of Trade, Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si. and the Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Si.
After the signing of the MoU and MoA, the event continued with a public lecture delivered by the Minister of Trade, Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si. In a public lecture on Indonesian Economic Development, Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si said that the government targets economic growth of 8% in 2028-2029. This is in line with President Prabowo's directive to increase exports and reduce imports. Therefore, the Ministry of Trade focuses on increasing exports through three priority programs, namely securing the domestic market, expanding export markets, and increasing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) dare to innovate ready to adapt (CAN) exports.
The Trade Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Trade continues to ensure that all regulatory instruments made can create fair trade. Government policies are aimed at achieving economic growth targets, improving welfare and protecting the community.
The event was also attended by Director General of Domestic Trade, Moga Simatupang; Director General of National Export Development, Mardyana Listyowati; Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order, Rusmin Amin; and Vice Rector III of USU, Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan; Vice Dean III of USU Faculty of Law, Mohammad Ekaputra.
