The Legal Consultation and Aid Institute of the Faculty of Law at Universitas Sumatera Utara (LKBH FH USU) remains committed to promoting access to justice for the community by providing professional, educational, and public interest-oriented legal services. As an implementing unit for community service within the Faculty of Law at Universitas Sumatera Utara, LKBH FH USU plays a strategic role in providing legal understanding and assistance to members of the community in addressing various legal issues they may encounter.

In carrying out its duties and functions, LKBH FH USU provides three main types of services: Legal Consultation, Legal Assistance, and Legal Aid.

Legal Consultation Services are intended for members of the community who require legal explanations, analysis, and/or advice regarding legal issues they are currently facing. Those wishing to receive an initial legal consultation may contact the designated contact person at 0851-1766-7043 (Naufal) for further information regarding the consultation schedule and procedures.

To support a smooth and effective consultation process, members of the community are expected to bring and/or prepare documents and evidence related to the legal case or issue they are facing. These may include letters, agreements, court decisions, a chronology of events, recordings, photographs, and/or other relevant supporting documents. The completeness of these documents is necessary to enable the LKBH FH USU team to provide comprehensive and targeted legal analysis.

In addition to consultation services, LKBH FH USU also provides Legal Assistance and Legal Aid for members of the community who meet the established requirements. These services represent LKBH FH USU’s tangible commitment to expanding access to justice, particularly for economically disadvantaged members of the community.

Individuals applying for free Legal Assistance or Legal Aid are required to submit a Certificate of Indigency (Surat Keterangan Tidak Mampu/SKTM) issued by the local subdistrict office (Kelurahan) or village administration (Pemerintah Desa) in accordance with the applicant’s domicile. This document constitutes one of the administrative requirements used as the basis for verifying an applicant’s eligibility to receive legal aid services.

Through these services, LKBH FH USU hopes that members of the community will have access to accurate and reliable legal information, protection of their legal rights, and legal assistance in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Furthermore, LKBH FH USU encourages members of the community not to hesitate to seek legal solutions through appropriate channels. Seeking consultation at an early stage is an important step in understanding one’s legal position, preventing disputes from escalating, and determining an appropriate course of action in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

LKBH FH USU is committed to continuously improving the quality of its services, upholding professionalism, maintaining the confidentiality of every consultation process, and prioritizing the principles of justice in carrying out its duties and functions.
