Public Relation FH-USU: Rabu (27/07/2022), The 7th Session for summer course program 2022 Law faculty USU was held with speaker Dr. Drs. Hasanuddin, M.Si, with the topic of Alternative dispute resolution in West Sumatera ( Minangkabau) The 7th Session was the last session which focused on closing ceremony in summer course program 2022 law faculty.
During the presentation, material, Eva Syafitri Nasution, SH., MH ( Lecture for law faculty USU ) help to mediate the presentation by supporting the role of the speaker. Dr. Drs. Hasanuddin, M.Si explained that Minangkabau is the world’s largest matrilineal society. The number of the community had reached 5000 people in West Sumatera. According to Dr. Drs Hasanudin, Minangkabau is the dominant contributor to human resources for the development of the Republic of Indonesia. Three of the four Founding Fathers of Indonesia are Minangkabau People. In additional, Dr. Drs. Hasanuddin explained about the social structure of the Minangkabau for kinship system including Samande, Sajurai, Saparuik, Sakaum, Sasuku, Sapayuang, Saindu in related to Alternative Dispute Resolution .
As part of a sovereign State, Minangkabau West Sumatra is obliged to comply with state law. However, due to the privileges or specificities of traditional Customary Law that are still alive, it is given the right and authority to carry it out within certain limits as an Alternative Dispute Resolution based on local wisdom. In the next presentation, Dr. Drs. Hasanuddin showed the legal constitution called Nagari law which is Customary Law Institutions and authority State Recognition and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
As Dean of law faculty at USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M.Hum said in his closing remarks at Summer Course Program 2022, “It is my task to provide some closing remarks. This time. however, it is also a privilege and an honor to be entrusted with such an undertaking, at a gathering of such participants from 5 countries including universities in Malaysia, Malagasy, India, the Philipines, and several universities in Indonesia. There were 163 participants summer course program 2022 and attended 33 participants from foreign students. The dean thanked all speakers Prof.Ainul Jaria Bt. Maidin, LL.B, LL.M, Ph.D (International Islamic University Malaysia), Prof. Akmal Handi Ansari Nasution, SH., MH., LL.M (O.P. Jindal Global University), Prof.Dr.Kurnia Warman, SH., M.Hum (Universitas Andalas), Mr .Matthew Pierre Zurstrassen (former Researcher to the World Bank), Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu, SH., M.Hum, Prof.Dr. Rosnidar Sembiring, SH.,M.Hum and Dr. Maria Kaban,SH.,M.Hum (Universitas Sumatera Utara).
Dean of law faculty also We are also grateful to all those who have been involved in this summer program such as staff members of the summer course steering committee undesirable leadership of Dr. Mohammad Eka Putra SH MH as the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration who spent time and effort for a summer course, host/moderator, and interpreter who spent time and effort for summer course program 2022 law faculty USU.
