PUBLIC RELATIONS FH-USU: Wednesday (24/08/2022), the Chairman of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), AA La Nyalaa Mahmud Maltalitti delivered a public lecture at the USU Faculty of Law entitled "Reconstruction of the Special Authority of legislative institutions in Indonesia through Amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945". The activity, which took place in the Moot Court building of the USU Faculty of Law, was held at the initiation of collaboration with the USU Faculty of Law Student Government with the USU Faculty of Law Alumni Association.
Also present at the event were, the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Sc., Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M.Hum. , Chairman of the USU Faculty of Law Alumni Association, Hasrul Benny Harahap, SH., M.Hum. , Governor of Student Government of the USU Faculty of Law, M. Husni Baihaqi. The public lecture was attended by hundreds of USU students. The Chairman of the DPD RI was present together with the Dpd RI Member of North Sumatra Province, Dedi Iskandar Batubara, Faisal Amri, M. Nuh, and the Member of the DPD RI Aceh province, H. Fachrul Rozi. In addition, the Special Staff of the Chairman of DPD RI Sefdin Syaifudin, and Kepala bureau Setpim DPD RI, Sanherif Hutagaol, were also present. The public lecture was attended by hundreds of USU students.
In his general lecture, the Chairman of the DPD RI said that the changes that occurred in the 1944 5th Constitution were not constitutional amendments, but the replacement of the constitution,
but fundamentally several things occurred in the process of replacing the Constitution that occurred from 1999 to 2002. AA La Nyalaa Mahmud Maltalitti asserted, that the new Constitution has been reviewed and researched by the Center for Pancasila Studies, Gadjah Mada University with researchers including Professor Kaelan and Professor Sofian Effendi, and it was found that the changes that occurred from 1999 to 2002 itu were not Constitutional Amendments, tetapi replacement of the Constitution. At the end of his lecture, the Chairman of the DPD RI called for a determination to return to the 1945 Constitution the original text compiled by the founders of the nation to be perfectly perfected in the right way, using an addendum so as not to eliminate Pancasila as a staats fundamental norm, affirmed AA La Nyalaa Mahmud Maltalitti.
