The USU Faculty of Law, through its Undergraduate program in Law Studies established a collaboration by signing an Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Undergraduate program in Law Studies of Bunda Thamrin University (UBT). The signing took place on the 5th Floor of the Bunda Thamrin University Building, Medan.

FH USU Public Relations: On Thursday, 22 January 2026, the Undergraduate Program in Law Studies of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU) officially established a collaboration through the signing of an Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Undergraduate Program in Law Studies of Bunda Thamrin University (UBT). The signing ceremony was held on the 5th Floor of the Bunda Thamrin University Building, Medan.

 

The Implementation Agreement was carried out in the form of curriculum development activities for the Undergraduate Program in Law Studies of Bunda Thamrin University. This collaboration aims to enhance academic quality and curriculum relevance, ensuring alignment with developments in legal scholarship, labor market needs, and national higher education policies.

 

The event was attended by Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, Dean of the Faculty of Law USU; Dr. Surya Utama, M.S, Rector of Bunda Thamrin University; Dr. Mohammad Ekaputra, S.H., M.Hum, Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Law USU; Etty Uyun, S.H., M.H, Head of the Undergraduate Program in Law Studies of Bunda Thamrin University; and Dr. dr. Dedy Ardinata, AIFM, Expert Staff to the Rector of Bunda Thamrin University.

 

In his remarks, Dr. Surya Utama, M.S, Rector of Bunda Thamrin University, explained that Bunda Thamrin University was officially established on 28 July 2025, having previously operated as STIKES Bunda Thamrin. The transition to university status was part of an acceleration program granted by the relevant ministry. To meet the requirements of this program, the university is required to offer a minimum of ten academic programs. At present, Bunda Thamrin University offers seven academic programs, including the Undergraduate Program in Law Studies.

 

He further emphasized that the development of the Undergraduate Program in Law Studies requires a comprehensive review, evaluation, and refinement of the curriculum to meet the standards and demands of contemporary legal higher education. Accordingly, Bunda Thamrin University has engaged the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, as a strategic partner in the curriculum development process.

 

During the event, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, Dean of the Faculty of Law USU, served as the principal resource person for the curriculum development of the Undergraduate Program in Law Studies at Bunda Thamrin University. Through this collaboration, it is expected that a high-quality, adaptive, and competitive curriculum will be developed, while further strengthening institutional synergy between the Faculty of Law USU and Bunda Thamrin University in the field of legal education.
