The Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Budiman Ginting, SH., M. Hum, welcomed the delegation team's return and expressed appreciation for its achievements, which have brought honor to the academic community of the USU Faculty of Law.
USU Faculty of Law students won 3rd place in the National Scientific Writing Competition, part of a series of events for the 2016 National Scientific Festival, held by Students of the Department of State Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP-USU), Medan, December 16-17, 2016. The theme of this competition was "Optimizing Regional Autonomy to Realize Prosperous Indonesia in 2045."
The LKTI champion was won by a team consisting of Khairin Ulyani Tarigan as the head of the delegation (Class of 2014), Laila Fitriani Siregar (Class of 2013), and Monica Rianda (Class of 2016) with the supervisor Afrita, SH, M.Hum. This team raised a paper entitled "TEBAS: Sibolga Children's Cultural Theater: A Solution for Developing the Potential of Tourism Villages with Youth as its Pillars" to optimize regional autonomy through the local potential that has not been explored so far. In this competition, the 1st place winner was won by the Politeknik Negeri Medan, while the 2nd place winner was the Universitas Indonesia Team.
This competition was attended by 13 teams from various universities in Indonesia, such as the Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga Surabaya, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Mulawarman Samarinda, and others. Prof. Dr. Budiman Ginting S.H., M.Hum, as the Dean of the USU FH, in his speech to the delegation, hoped that this activity could be a means for the delegates to process into students who can have general knowledge, general skills, and values that must be upheld in law enforcement practices to build Indonesia to be better.
