On Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Faculty Advisory Council (DPF) Room of the Faculty of Law of Universitas Sumatera Utara, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law of Universitas Sumatera Utara, organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the topic “50 Years of Indonesia-Singapore Relations: Opportunities and Challenges.” The Indonesian Ambassador of Singapore, H.E. Ngurah Swajaya, served as the keynote speaker for the FGD, moderated by Sutiarnoto, S.H., M.Hum.
The Indonesian Ambassador of Singapore outlined three key priorities for potential collaboration between Singapore and North Sumatra: tourism, including the development of destinations such as Lake Toba, along with investment and human resource development; investment, particularly in industrial zones such as Kuala Tanjung; and trade in fruits and vegetables. Additionally, H.E. Ngurah Swajaya encouraged academics and all stakeholders to seize the opportunity presented by the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
The FGD, which was attended mainly by academics, representatives from the Medan City Government, and business practitioners, concluded with a discussion and an interactive Q&A session.
