The Expertise Body of the Indonesian House of Representatives, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a National Seminar on Monday, March 17, 2017, at the Moot Court Building, Faculty of Law, USU, with the theme "Urgency of Amendment to Law Number 30 of 2002 concerning the Corruption Eradication Commission."
The speakers in this national seminar were Firman Soebagyo, SE., M.H (Deputy Chair of the Legislation Body of the Indonesian House of Representatives), K. Johnson Rajaguguk, SH., M.Hum (Chairman of the Expertise Body of the Indonesian House of Representatives), Prof. Dr. Syafruddin Kalo, SH., M.Hum (Professor of the Faculty of Law, USU), Dr. Faisal Akbar Nasution, SH., M.H (Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, USU), Dr. M. Hamdan, SH., MH (Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, USU) and Dr. Jelly Leviza, SH., M.Hum who acted as moderator.
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Budiman Ginting, SH., M. Hum, said that Universitas Sumatera Utara is a scientific institution. This national seminar conducts a scientific study to criticize several aspects of revising the KPK Law. In this context, the USU Faculty of Law must be neutral and not take sides.
This national seminar, in its conclusion, gave birth to several attitudes related to the revision of the KPK Law, including rejecting the formation of an external KPK Supervisory Board, rejecting the KPK's wiretapping authority must be based on preliminary evidence, rejecting the addition of the KPK's authority to issue SP3, and supporting the appointment of independent investigators and investigators.
