FH-USU PR: Tuesday (25/06/2024), the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), held the Summer Course Program 2024 with the theme "Carbon Trading for Mangrove Tourism Village." The activity opened in the Faculty Advisory Council (DPF) room of FH USU and continued with lecture activities in a hybrid manner. The Summer Course 2024 activities held by FH USU lasted five days from June 25 to 29, 2024.

The Summer Course Program 2024 is an international activity that involves participants and resource persons from within and outside the country. The speakers presented were Associate Prof. Dr. Siti Hafsyah Idris (Faculty of Law UITM, Malaysia), Isha Das, B.A., LL.B., LL.M and Prof. Akmal Handi Ansari (Jindal Global Law School, India), Dr. Imam Basuki (Wildlife Works Indonesia), Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum and Dr. Vita Cita Emia Tarigan, S.H., LL.M (FH USU). The activity was attended by 25 international students from various countries, including Yemen, India, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, and Malaysia.

Vice Rector 3 of USU, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z Hasibuan, M.Si, Apt in her remarks and opening the event said the theme of the Summer Course 2024 FH USU activity was very relevant and crucial. Vice Rector 3 expressed her pride in FH USU for being able to organize activities that involve students from various backgrounds and countries. Vice Rector 3 hopes that this program can provide in-depth experience and encourage active participation of participants in environmental issues.

Dean of the Faculty of Law USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, in his speech, revealed that the theme in the summer course activities in 2024 was raised because it could handle international and economic issues, provide additional value to the community and increase environmental awareness. The Dean emphasized the importance of literacy regarding carbon trading, where the government has issued various regulations, and FH USU is tasked with disseminating this knowledge to the public, said Dr. Mahmul Siregar.

The series of activities of the Summer Course Program 2024 FH USU, apart from lecturing activities, there are also field visits to Mangrove Tourism Villages in Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra, followed by mangrove planting activities, there are also field lectures in Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser which are accompanied by mountain climbing activities (tracking) and circling (tubing) upstream of the Batang River, Batang Serangan District, Langkat Regency.
