The USU Faculty of Law Anniversary Committee, chaired by Hasrul Benny Harahap, SH., M.Hum, again held a Legal Reflection Webinar in the framework of the 68th Anniversary of the USU Faculty of Law. In the Scientific Week, the Legal Reflection Webinar series-4 took the theme "Arbitration Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Perspective of Higher Education" by presenting the Chairperson of the BANI Arbitration Center Jakarta, Dr. Anangga W. Roosdiono, SH., MH., FCBArb. , Professor of Civil Law at the USU Faculty of Law who is also the Chairperson of BANI Medan, Prof. Dr. Tan Kamello, SH., MS., Chairperson of BANI Bandung, Dr. Jafar Sidik, SH., MH., M.Kn., FCBArb., FIIArb. , Deputy Chairperson of BANI Medan, Dr. Deni Purba, SH., L.LLM., MCIArb., Dipl.Arb. , Lecturer at HKBP Nommensen University Medan, Dr. Ir. Martono Anggusti, SH., MM., M.Hum. as a resource person for the webinar. Dr. Azwir Agus, SH., M.Hum., the moderator, hosted the webinar.
In his remarks, the Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M.Hum, said that Law Number 30 of 1999 concerning Arbitration has been in effect for approximately 23 years, which of course during the journey of this nation in enforcing the Arbitration Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution, we have received a lot of criticism, many experiences that have become lessons for us to be then able to review, provide input, make updates, and do various things that need to be perfected so that Alternative Dispute Resolution and Arbitration based on Law Number 30 of 1999 can be more effective and beneficial to the business world and society.
Moreover, we are currently facing an era of very strong information, disruption in various fields, and very rapid business development, so of course, we have to look back, perfect, review, and then prescribe various very important things regarding the Arbitration Law that we already have, continued the Dean in his remarks.
In his presentation of the webinar material, the resource person, Dr. Anangga W. Roosdiono, SH., MH., FCBArb., delivered material entitled "The Role of Higher Education in Law in the World of Arbitration", Prof. Dr. Tan Kamello, SH., MS., presented material on "Arbitration Law as an Applied Science in Law No. 12 of 2012", and resource person Dr. Jafar Sidik, SH., MH., M.Kn., FCBArb., FIIArb., presented material entitled "Implementation of Arbitration Courses in the Curriculum of Law Faculties in Indonesia", Dr. Deni Purba, SH., LLM., MCIArb., Dipl. Arb. presented material entitled "Higher Education and International Commercial Arbitration Law", Dr. Ir. Martono Anggusti, SH., MM., M.Hum. presented material entitled "Perspective of Outcome Based Education of Higher Education on Law as an Applied Science".
