HUMAS FH-USU: Thursday-Wednesday (22-23/02/2024), the Doctoral and Master of Law Studies Program of the Faculty of Law (FH) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an International Guest Lecture, presenting Dr. Prosper Simbarashe Maguchu, LL.M from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam which was held for two days. The activity was opened with a Public Lecture entitled "Sharing Experience Managing University Journal" which took place in the Faculty Advisory Board Room (DPF) FH USU. Related to this, previously FH USU had also held an audience with university leaders who were received by USU Vice Chancellor IV Prof. Dr. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc. accompanied by the Director of the USU Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T. at the Rector's Audience Room, USU Central Administration Bureau Building.



Dean of the Faculty of Law USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH, M.Hum in his speech while opening the activity said "the presence of Dr. Prosper Simbarashe Maguchu, LL.M is a follow-up to efforts to build good cooperation between the Faculty of Law USU and the Faculty of Law Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This effort is in line with the USU Rector's Work Program and the USU Faculty of Law which leads to various internationalization activity programs ". "This activity is part of the Equity Program (Enhancing Quality Education for International University Recognition) which is the USU Priority Program in 2024, there are several academic activities while guest lecturers are at FH which involve journal managers and FH USU S2 and S3 students", said the Dean.



The Chairperson of the Doctor of Law Study Program at FH USU, Prof. Dr. Ningrum Natasya Sirait, SH, MLI revealed that this program is part of the EQUITY program which has strong support from the university. Prof. Dr. Ningrum Natasya Sirait, SH, MLI said, through the audience with the rector there were many potentials and opportunities for wider development.



On the next day, the series of activities continued with a public lecture, titled "General Lecturer: Past Corruption and Human Rights" and "Disscussion with Doctoral Program Student: "An overview of research topics for Ph.D students". The activity was divided into two sessions, the first session involved master students and the second session involved doctoral students.



Prof. Dr. Ningrum Natasya Sirait, SH, MLI also explained the background of the theme selection for the public lecture on the second day, which is inseparable from the urgency of exploring a deep understanding of the growing complexity of global legal challenges. Because corruption is often the root of human rights violations.

Dr. Prosper Simbarashe Maguchu, LL.M emphasized that the fight against corruption is very inclusive. Students have a big role in fighting corruption by contributing through writing articles, criticizing, or evaluating the law in Indonesia. Dr. Prosper Simbarashe Maguchu, LL.M hopes that the results of this discussion can help universities manage journals efficiently and improve their visibility, ranking, and quality.
