The People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI), through the MPR Research Agency in collaboration with the Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a National Discussion with the theme "Affirmation and Strengthening of the Presidential System" on Monday, November 21, 2016.
The national discussion activity held at the Moot Court Building of the USU Faculty of Law was to obtain in-depth input on the Indonesian constitutional system by conducting studies on the dynamics of development, achievements, and implementation of the presidential system in the Indonesian constitutional system and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. This activity aims to obtain input materials from resource persons, USU academics, and students.
In addition to involving resource persons from USU legal and political experts, this discussion also involved resource persons from MPR RI Research Agency members. Present as resource persons from USU were the Dean of the USU Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Dr. Muryanto Amin, M.Si, Head of the Department of Constitutional Law, USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Faisal Akbar, SH., M.Hum, Head of the Center for Legal Regulation and Regional Regulation Studies, USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mirza Nasution, SH., M.Hum. Also present were speakers from the MPR RI Research Agency, Prof. Dr. Darmayanti Lubis, and M. Syukur, SH., M.H.
The discussion activity was also attended by USU Vice-Rector IV, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bustami Syam, MS., ME., who acted as a representative of the USU Rector, Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Budiman Ginting, SH., M.Hum, Vice Dean II, Puspa Melati Hasibuan, SH., M.Hum. , Vice Dean III, Dr. Jelly Leviza, SH., M.Hum, Head of the Research Bureau of the MPR RI Secretariat General, Drs. Yana Indrawan M.Si. The entire series of national discussion activities were broadcast on air by the iNews television station.
