FH USU PR - Four members of the Academic Senate of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) from the Faculty of Law (FH USU) participated in a Leadership Capacity Building Training on Higher Education Management, organized by Universitas Sumatera Utara on 20–21 January 2026. The training was held at the Digital Learning Center (DLC) Building, USU.

The four Academic Senate members were Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, ex officio Dean of the Faculty of Law USU, Dr. Agusmidah, S.H., M.Hum, Puspa Melati Hasibuan, S.H., M.Hum, and Boy Laksamana, S.H., M.Hum.

The training was organized as part of USU’s efforts to strengthen leadership and governance in higher education management, in alignment with the Asta Cita mission of the Prabowo–Gibran administration.

The program featured several distinguished speakers, including Prof. Ir. Hermawan Kresno Dipojono, M.S.EE., Ph.D.; Agus Dwi Handaya, S.E., Ak., M.B.A.; Nixon L. P. Napitupulu, S.E.; Ir. Rayi Pradono Iswara, M.Sc.; Dr. Dany Amrul Ichdan, S.E., M.Sc.; and Bayu Arie Fianto, S.E., MBA., Ph.D.

In his opening remarks, USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., emphasized that the training served as a moment of reflection and renewal for academic leaders in responding to the increasingly dynamic landscape of higher education management.

He also highlighted the strategic role of the Academic Senate as a fundamental pillar in academic policy-making that shapes the direction and progress of the university.

“This training is designed as a forum for competency enhancement as well as a space for strategic dialogue,” the Rector stated.

Over the course of two days, participants engaged in pre-tests and post-tests, expert presentations, discussions, and presentations, aimed at measuring the effectiveness and impact of the training.

The higher education policy direction of the Government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in addressing Indonesia’s strategic challenges is articulated through the Asta Cita mission, which includes strengthening national defense and security systems; promoting national self-reliance through food, energy, water, creative economy, green economy, and blue economy sovereignty; enhancing human resource development, science, technology, education, health, sports achievements, gender equality, and the empowerment of women, youth, and persons with disabilities; as well as advancing downstreaming and industrialization to increase domestic value-added.

The Rector expressed hope that the leadership training program would be conducted twice a year as part of USU’s ongoing commitment to improving leadership quality and higher education governance.

“This Leadership Capacity Building Training in Higher Education Management is expected to enhance the competencies of leaders at Universitas Sumatera Utara in carrying out their strategic roles,” the Rector concluded.
