FH-USU PR: Thursday (31/10/2024), FH USU students, as part of the Civil Law Clinic course, along with their supervising lecturers, Prof. Dr. Tan Kamello, S.H., M.S., and Nita Nilan Sry Rezki Pulungan, S.H., M.Kn., conducted a socialization/outreach program at the Simpang Tanjung Urban Village Office, Sunggal District, Medan City, North Sumatra. The outreach program was attended by 15 residents of Simpang Tanjung Urban Village. This activity is one of the mandatory programs for students of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, as a form of community service-based learning beyond the classroom material they receive.

During the legal outreach program on the topic "Resolving Breach of Contract in Raw Material Supply for Franchise Businesses of UMKM," FH USU students, led by Erick Partogi Halasson Saragi, began the event with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, "Indonesia Raya," led by Jocelyn Ang1, followed by a prayer recitation by Bintang Andrean. The program continued with a welcoming speech by the Secretary of the Urban Village, Teguh Hariyono, S.Kom. In his speech, Teguh Hariyono, S.Kom., expressed his gratitude for the organization of this outreach program. He hoped that similar activities would continue to be held as they help the community better understand the legal system in Indonesia. He also encouraged FH USU students to continuously share their knowledge on legal matters with the public.

The event proceeded with a presentation session moderated by Bella Orchidya Purba, Adelia Vanessa Saragih, and Rebecca Hutapea. The presentation covered topics such as the definition of franchise (warlaba), UMKM, and an understanding of raw material supply contracts in franchise businesses. The main focus emphasized by FH USU students was to enhance public awareness regarding franchise business contracts, ensuring that the community becomes more meticulous in understanding such agreements and learns how to resolve legal issues arising from breaches of contract. After the presentation, a discussion session was held with the outreach participants.

The outreach program concluded with the presentation of a plaque to the Simpang Tanjung Urban Village, represented by the Secretary of the Urban Village, followed by a group photo session with the participants.
