FH-USU Public Relations: Monday–Thursday (27–30 October 2025), the Faculty of Law at Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU) served as the host for the National Seminar and Working Meeting of the Association of Deans of Law Faculties of Public Universities (BKS Dekan FH PTN) for the Western Region in 2025. The event was attended by 91 participants from law faculties across the Western Region, including 15 deans, lecturers, as well as the heads and secretaries of the S1, S2, S3, and MKN programs.

The program began at FH USU with a sharing session among the deans and a campus tour showcasing various academic facilities and services. Afterwards, participants continued their journey to The Hill Hotel and Resort Sibolangit.

The main event took place on 28 October 2025, featuring the National Seminar themed “The Emerging Legal Paradigm in the Disruption Era,” held at the Ballroom of The Hill Hotel and Resort Sibolangit.
In his remarks, the Vice Rector I of USU highlighted the importance of a “shifting of paradigm” in legal education amidst global disruption. He emphasized that law can no longer be viewed as a rigid doctrine detached from social realities, but must instead be understood as part of the interaction between power, economics, and society.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FH USU explained that the chosen theme reflects the relevance of current global legal developments shaped by rapid technological advances, the impact of the pandemic, climate change, and international geopolitics. He also underlined the pressing need for Indonesian law faculties to adjust their curricula and teaching methods to keep pace with artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation.

The Chair of BKS Dekan FH PTN Wilayah Barat stated that this event is part of a regular agenda held twice each year to promote experience-sharing among law faculties. According to him, the era of disruption affects all branches of law, from business law and criminal law to international law.

In addition to the seminar, the event included the signing of Memorandums of Agreement (MoA) and Implementation Agreements (IA) among the deans of various law faculties. The Secretary of BKS noted that this year’s gathering marked one of the largest meetings ever held by the association. Similarly, the Treasurer highlighted that the event was organized with a spirit of collaboration.

Following the national seminar, the program continued with the BKS Working Meeting, divided into several sessions including meetings of the undergraduate law deans (S1) and the coordinators of postgraduate law programs (S2, S3, and MKN).

The series of activities for the 2025 National Seminar and BKS Working Meeting, organized by FH USU, concluded on Thursday, 30 October 2025, with a city tour to the Loken Barn tourist attraction in Tongging, Karo Regency, North Sumatra.
