The Faculty of Law of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), together with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Business Competition Supervisory Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPPU RI), collaborated to hold a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the topic “Business Readiness to Face ASEAN Economic Integration.” located in the Faculty Advisory Council room (DPF FH USU). Prof. Dr. Ningrum Natasya Sirait, S.H.M.Li, as the chief organizer, said that this FGD activity was classified as International Service by presenting 2 (two) speakers, namely Ong Tze En Burton, EW Barker Centre for Law & Business Faculty of Law NUS and Chief of KPPU Regional Office I Medan, Ridho Pamungkas, S.I.P.
The Dean of FH USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, M. Hum, in his remarks and opening the event, said, “FDG activities with the topic of Business Readiness to Face ASEAN Economic Integration have great urgency to be discussed, considering ASEAN has strong economic potential, both producers and consumers.” The Dean hopes that the discussion of topics in this FGD activity can target the community to raise public understanding of the position and role in the process of economic integration in ASEAN.
Chairman of LPPM USU Prof. Dr. Tulus, Vor.Dipl.Math., M.Si., Ph.D, said this FGD also helped USU and the Law Study Program to achieve international accreditation. The Head of LPPM hopes that the business integration discussed in this discussion can be developed, especially in North Sumatra Province. Meanwhile, the Chief of KPPU Regional Office I Medan, Ridho Pamungkas, S.I.P., said his party expects stakeholder input to help KPPU RI maintain the business competition climate. On the occasion of his presentation, Ong Tze En Burton assessed that this FGD activity has good benefits for students as the next generation. According to him, young people must dare to face challenges and look for various opportunities related to the future.
