Thursday (October 1, 2026) — Students of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), once again achieved an outstanding accomplishment at the National Law Debate Competition organized by the Faculty of Sharia and Law of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. In the competition, the FH USU Delegation won 1st Place and also received the Best Speaker award.

The FH USU Delegation consisted of Zaskia Alia Putri Sidabutar (240200118) as Delegation Leader, Rafael Batista Tampubolon (240200090) and Teuku Muhammad Raihan (240200105) as delegation members, and Rhecia Rianda Syahla (230200119) as Official Team.

In their journey toward this achievement, the FH USU Delegation was guided by Devi Yulida, S.H., M.H., a lecturer at the Faculty of Law USU, as the Supervising Lecturer. Through the guidance, mentoring, and assistance provided throughout the preparation process and competition, the delegates were able to develop well-structured legal arguments and perform to their fullest before the panel of judges. The role of the Supervising Lecturer was one of the important factors supporting the team's success in winning 1st Place and Best Speaker.

This achievement demonstrates the ability of FH USU students to develop critical thinking, legal argumentation, analysis of legal issues, as well as communication and systematic opinion-delivery skills.

Winning 1st Place and Best Speaker is also a source of pride for the Faculty of Law USU and demonstrates the students' enthusiasm for continuing to achieve excellence in academic competitions at the national level.

The Dean of FH USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., expressed his appreciation and congratulations to all delegates and the Supervising Lecturer, Devi Yulida, S.H., M.H., for the achievement. This accomplishment is expected to motivate other FH USU students to continue developing their academic competencies and critical thinking skills, as well as to bring honor to the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, in various national and international competitions.
