HUMAS FH-USU: On Thursday, 9 July 2026, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), held an exploratory meeting with the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), to discuss plans for establishing a Master's (postgraduate) joint degree program. The meeting was held in the FH USU meeting room.

FH USU was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Internationalization, Dr. Mohammad Ekaputra, S.H., M.Hum., and the Secretary of the Doctoral Program in Law, Dr. Rosmalinda, S.H., LL.M. Representing the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws IIUM were Associate Professor Badruddin Bin Hj. Ibrahim and Prof. Dr. Azizah Mohd.

During the meeting, both institutions discussed the proposed joint degree program, which will be initiated by the Master of Laws Study Program at FH USU in collaboration with the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws IIUM. The program is expected to enhance the quality of postgraduate legal education while expanding academic networks and strengthening the internationalization efforts of both institutions.

Dean of FH USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, welcomed the proposed collaboration and stated that the joint degree program represents a strategic step toward advancing the faculty's internationalization agenda. Likewise, representatives from the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws IIUM expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that both institutions share a common vision of advancing research-based legal education with an international outlook.

This exploratory meeting marks the first step toward developing the program's curriculum framework, student and faculty exchange mechanisms, and other technical arrangements necessary to establish the Master of Laws Joint Degree Program between FH USU and the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws IIUM in the future.
