HUMAS FH-USU: The Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), participated in the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026. This event brought together thousands of global leaders at the largest simultaneous forum specifically designed to generate urgent solutions for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE BSD) in Jakarta from 22 to 25 June 2026.

As an event that brings together universities from around the world, this congress focused on collaboration among the education, business, and government sectors to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). USU’s involvement highlights the institution’s commitment to advancing transformative leadership and green initiatives globally.
One of the key agendas discussed was the development of a global university network focused on advancing sustainable development. The initiative was designed to encourage long-term international collaboration among higher education institutions. Through this network, universities are expected to share data more rapidly, align research methodologies, and generate stronger input for future climate and social policies.

GSDC 2026 also served as the venue for the first public launch of a global ranking system specifically designed to map universities’ impact on sustainable development solutions. This data-driven framework does not merely assess universities based on academic reputation or research volume. Instead, the system evaluates the tangible contributions of higher education institutions in addressing the ecological and social crises faced by communities around the world.
