FH USU PR: Himpunan Pengusaha Muda Indonesia Perguruan Tinggi Universitas Sumatera Utara (HIPMI PT USU) for the 2021–2022 period held its inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, (25/05/2021). Themed "Berkolaborasi Membangun Generasi Entrepreneur Menuju Kampus Merdeka," the event was conducted in a hybrid format, broadcast via Zoom from Gedung Asrama Haji Medan, Hall Haji Anif, 3rd Floor, starting at 2:00 PM WIB.
The event was attended by the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si.; the Dean of Faculty of Law USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M.Hum.; and the Dean of Faculty of Engineering USU, Dr. Ir. Fahmi, ST., M.Sc., IPM. Representatives from BPD HIPMI SUMUT, BPC HIPMI Medan, HIPMI PT SUMUT, several HIPMI PT autonomous bodies, and alums were also present.
The inauguration began with a traditional Tepak Sirih dance, prayers, and singing the national anthem, "Indonesia Raya," the HIPMI Hymn, and the HIPMI March. The Chairperson and General Secretary of HIPMI PT SUMUT led the ceremony, which was followed by the Chairperson and several guests signing the inauguration document. The event concluded with a joint business initiative launched by HIPMI PT USU, RISE (Room Interactive Student Escalated).
In his speech via Zoom, Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin congratulated the newly appointed board members and Chairperson. "On behalf of the university, I congratulate the new members and Chairperson. HIPMI PT is established to foster entrepreneurship through HIPMI PT USU," he stated. He expressed hope that the inauguration would mark the event's culmination and serve as a starting point for instilling entrepreneurial spirit among students. "Entrepreneurship is not just about business; it is a mindset and spirit that should exist in every field. Entrepreneurs are creative individuals, and this spirit should be nurtured everywhere," he added.
Asyraful Rizal, Chairperson of HIPMI PT USU for 2021–2022 and a 2017 Faculty of Law student, expressed his pride and ambition to develop HIPMI PT USU further. "HIPMI PT USU has historical significance. Although most members are from small businesses, some have already achieved substantial growth. In my leadership, 60% of members are actively running businesses, and I hope all members will own a business by the end of my term. Instead of engaging in unproductive activities, it is better to become entrepreneurs and join HIPMI," he said.
Ryalsyah Putra, Chairperson of HIPMI PT SUMUT, shared similar aspirations. "The success of HIPMI is evident when those who initially had no business ventures become business owners after joining HIPMI," he remarked.
The Dean of Faculty of Law USU and Dean of Faculty of Engineering USU encouraged collaboration between HIPMI PT USU and faculty activities to support student achievements at both the faculty and national levels. (Laks/SDL)
