The General Election Commission of North Sumatra (KPU SUMUT) held a Public Debate for Candidates for Governor and Vice Governor of North Sumatra in 2024, at the Grand Mercure Hotel, Medan. The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, was appointed by KPU SUMUT to be one of the panelists in this first debate.

 

Public Relations FH-USU: Wednesday (30/10/2024) 

The North Sumatra General Election Commission (KPU SUMUT) held the First Public Debate of Candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of SUMUT in 2024 at the Grand Mercure Hotel, Medan. In this first public debate, which had the theme “Public Services and Community Welfare,” KPU SUMUT involved nine panelists from various circles, including professionals, academics, and public figures of SUMUT.

 

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, was appointed by KPU SUMUT as one of the panelists in this inaugural debate. The other eight panelists were Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., M.SP. (Dean of the USU Faculty of Social and Political Sciences), Dr. Nispul Khair, M.Ag (Academician), H. Dadang Darmawan Pasaribu, S.Sos., M.Si. (Public Figure), Prof. Dr. Hisarma Saragih (Academician), dr. Moammar Andar Roemare Siregar, Sp.U(K). (Professional), Prof. Dr. Hasan Sazali, M.A., Prof. Dr. Mujahiddin, S.Sos., M.Si., and Dr. Zakaria Siregar, S.Sos, M.SP.

 

The panelist team has specially prepared all formulations of case studies, issues, and questions in the debate of the CAGUB and CAWAGUB SUMUT pairs. Before the debate, the panelist team represented by Prof. Dr. Mujahiddin, S.Sos., M.Si. handed over envelopes containing questions for all candidate pairs to the Chairman of the KPU SUMUT. This is a form of transparency that, before the debate is held, all questions no one knows apart from the panelist team, and also proves that the panelists are figures of integrity, honesty, and sympathy and are neutral by not taking sides with the candidate pairs or candidate pair campaign teams.
