The Mock Trial Community (KPS) of the Faculty of Law of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), held a Webinar Series to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (HANI), commemorated annually on June 26. This webinar occurred on Tuesday, June 23, 2021, under the theme "Commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking." The event was moderated by Girlie Aneira Ginting, a law student at Universitas Sumatera Utara and a member of the Mock Trial Community. It was conducted online via Zoom Meetings and attended by FH USU students.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law, USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M.Hum, delivered a warm opening speech at the first webinar. In his speech, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, SH., M.Hum explained that this webinar is exhilarating because the discussion covers various perspectives and aspects of narcotics. He hopes that this discussion will help reduce the misuse of narcotics, which can be dangerous when abused, and he encourages the participants to follow the discussion well, absorb the knowledge, and gain valuable insights and experiences.
Webinar Series #1:
The first webinar was held on June 23, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, with Maidina Rahmawati, a researcher at the Institute for Criminal Justice Reform, as the speaker. The theme of the first webinar was "Access to Justice for Women Facing the Law in Narcotics Criminal Cases." 185 participants attended this webinar.
Webinar Series #2:
The second webinar occurred on June 25, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, with Miko Susanto Ginting, an academic from the Jentera School of Law, as the speaker. The theme of this session was "The Direction of Narcotics Legal Policy in Indonesia," and it was attended by 210 participants.
Webinar Series #3:
The third and final webinar was held on June 26, 2021, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM, with Ricky Gunawan, from the Global Drugs Policy Program and Open Society Foundation, as the speaker. The topic of this session was "Issues in Law Enforcement in Narcotics Cases," and it was attended by 168 participants.
Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the smooth running and participated in the Mock Trial Community Webinar Series of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara, themed "Commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking." We thank God for the success, orderliness, and smooth execution of this event. This webinar ran smoothly without any significant obstacles. We hope the results and impact of this activity will positively affect all of us.
