The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MK-RI), Prof. Dr. Arief Hidayat, SH., MS, gave a public lecture at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH-USU), on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the USU Faculty of Law's moot court building.
The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia gave a public lecture titled "The Constitutional Court in the Constitutional System of the Republic of Indonesia." In his presentation, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia emphasized that the law based on the Constitution and Pancasila must continually be developed, and in developing, the law must be based on divine values. Constitutional Justices always base themselves on divine values in trying and deciding cases. Regarding the Constitutional Court's decisions, which are final and binding, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia explained that the Constitutional Court does not have an executing institution to carry out the decisions; therefore, the awareness of the entire community to obey the Constitutional Court's decisions is very important. The Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia also invited intellectuals, especially academics and students, to have the basis of the light of God in the nation and state.
This public lecture activity was also attended by the Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Runtung, SH., M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Law USU, Prof. Dr. Budiman Ginting, SH., M.Hum., Constitutional Justice, Dr. Manahan, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. M. Guntur Hamzah, SH., MH., Registrar of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia, Kasianur Sidahuruk, SH., MH.
