FH USU-Public Relations: Tuesday to Thursday (25–27 November 2025), The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering creativity and developing student potential through the organization of a series of competitions held at FH USU. This activity was part of the closing program of the Synergistic Cabinet for the 2024/2025 period, aimed at creating a positive platform for students to channel their interests, talents, and competencies across various fields.
The competitions included Legal Opinion, Essay Writing, Mobile Legends, Dam Batu, and Vocal Solo. Each category was designed to sharpen participants’ analytical abilities, critical thinking skills, creativity, and self-confidence, both in academic and non-academic areas, particularly for students of Universitas Sumatera Utara.
USU Law Fair 2025 also provided space for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to participate through a bazaar located in the car parking area of Building A, Faculty of Law USU. The presence of these MSMEs not only added vibrancy to the event but also opened opportunities for collaboration between students and local business actors. Student enthusiasm was clearly reflected in the high number of registrants and the dynamic, sportsmanlike, and spirited competition throughout the event series.
The Chair of the Organizing Committee, Radot Lot Labana Angkat, stated that the event served not only as a competition but also as a means to strengthen relationships among students and to reinforce an active and dynamic academic environment. “We hope this activity can become an initial step for students to continue developing, both at the faculty level and in competitions at higher levels,” he said.
In his remarks, the Vice Dean I of FH USU, Dr. Agusmidah, S.H., M.Hum, expressed appreciation for the successful implementation of the USU Law Fair 2025 series. He noted that “this activity produces positive outcomes for law students as well as for the faculty as a whole. Hopefully, this event can become a sustainable program.”
Meanwhile, the President of BEM FH USU, Afif Hauzaan Abid, conveyed his appreciation to all committee members, participants, and the faculty for their support in making the event possible. He emphasized that BEM continues to strive to create programs that are beneficial and have a positive impact on students. “We hope this event can serve as a platform for students to channel their interests and talents, not only in academics but also in non-academic fields such as arts and e-sports,” he said.
The peak event of USU Law Fair 2025, which was originally scheduled for 27 November 2025, had to be postponed due to a natural disaster. As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all participants and invited guests, the committee rescheduled the peak event and winner announcement to Thursday, 4 December 2025, to be held at the Mock Court Building of the Faculty of Law USU.
On the same occasion, the event was also combined with a seminar titled “Opportunities and Challenges for Legal Professionals in the Development of Law.” The seminar featured two speakers: Aprillia Haslantini Siregar, S.H., M.H. (Head of the Legal Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of North Sumatra Province) as the first speaker, and Syahrul Sitorus, S.H., S.Sos., M.H. (Vice Chair for Special Education of the Legal Profession, DPC PERADI Medan) as the second speaker.
With the successful implementation of these competitions, BEM FH USU hopes that the event will bring meaningful benefits and continue to present innovative activities capable of enhancing student quality, both academically and non-academically.
