USU Faculty of Law students who are members of the Gemar Belajar Association (GEMBEL) community from July 1-15, 2023, successfully organized several series of activities in the event themed GEMBEL Triple Key 2023, which included Legal Counseling and Consultation activities, Focused Discussion Activities (FGD), National Essay Competition, and National Law Seminar. GEMBEL Chairman Rizky Ramadhan said the word Triple Key has three meanings and keys, namely critical, creative, and contributive; the three keys are outlined in the external activities of GEMBEL Faculty of Law USU 2023.
Legal Counseling and Consultation activities occurred on Saturday, July 1, 2023, in Klumpang Kebun Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency. This Legal Counseling activity targets teenagers by bringing the topic “Social Media Ethics: Cyberbullying, Hoaxes, and Sara Issues.” On the same day in the afternoon, the event continued with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) activities with material on Cyberbullying, Hoaxes, and SARA Issues. FGD participants were divided into 3 groups, which consisted of 12-13 participants, and each group had 3 assistants to guide the discussion.
Meanwhile, the National Essay Competition took place from 1 - 8 July 2023 with the theme “The Existence of Perppu in the Indonesian Constitution, the Urgency of Establishing Laws on Climate Change, Optimizing Personal Data Protection for Customers in Digital Banking Transactions.” This essay competition was attended by approximately 150 participants from 40 different universities. The competition jury came from the Alumni of the Gemar Belajar Association, namely Alboin Fransius Pasaribu, S.H., M.H. (Expert Assistant to the Constitutional Court Judge), Yusty Riana Purba, S.H. (Founder of Yusty Purba & Co - Law Office), and Dora Virgolin Tambunan, S.H., M.H. The competition's winners were Adila Haira from Universitas Diponegoro, who won first place; Angel Jessica and Ramli Santoso from Universitas Indonesia, who won second place; Rifki Ananda from Universitas Sumatera Utara, who won third place.
Furthermore, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, a national law seminar was held in the Abdul Hakim Building Hall, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utaar; the committee invited a Constitutional Court Judge, Dr. Manahan Malontinge Pardamean, S.H., M.Hum as a speaker with the topic “The Dynamics of Perppu in Indonesian State Administration”. Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Law of USU, Dr. Agusmidah, SH, M.Hum, in his remarks, expressed his extraordinary appreciation to the entire committee of GEMBEL Triple Key Year 2023 and also introduced GEMBEL as a multicultural student organization because its members come from various ethnicities, religions, and races.
The publication of the GEMBEL Bulletin marked the closing of the GEMBEL Triple Key 2023. The GEMBEL Bulletin is a magazine that is interpreted as a legacy from the GEMBEL Triple Key 2023 Committee, which contains seminar minutes, legal counseling and consultation minutes, documentation of each activity, and some of the best essays from the competitions that have been held. This bulletin will be donated to the GEMBEL library and the USU Faculty of Law. The GEMBEL Triple Key 2023 activity was closed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law of USU, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, followed by a bulletin handover session to the XVIII President of the Gemar Belajar Association (GEMBEL) symbolically as a sign of the closing of the GEMBEL Triple Key 2023 activity.
