National Seminar & Call for Papers, Association of Deans of Public University Law Faculties, Western Region, 2025
The 2025 National Seminar & Call for Papers organized by the Association of Deans of Public University Law Faculties, Western Region, brought together academics, researchers, and legal practitioners to explore “The Emerging Legal Paradigms in the Disruption Era.” Held from 27–30 October 2025 at The Hill Hotel and Resort, Sibolangit, Deli Serdang, the event created a dynamic forum for discussing the shifting landscape of law amidst rapid technological and societal change.
The seminar opened with a keynote address delivered by a senior leader from Universitas Sumatera Utara, followed by welcoming remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Law at USU. Distinguished speakers representing public universities across the Western Region contributed insights from various legal disciplines, emphasizing how disruption in technological, economic, or social spheres necessitates new approaches to legal interpretation, governance, and policy.
Throughout the sessions, invited experts highlighted the urgency for legal institutions to adapt, encouraging scholars to rethink traditional frameworks and develop responsive legal strategies. Participants actively engaged in discussions on digital regulation, evolving criminal law paradigms, challenges arising from online transactions, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in shaping more resilient legal systems.
Beyond academic discussions, the program included a Welcome Dinner on 27 October, offering opportunities for networking and strengthening institutional ties. The National Seminar took place on 28 October, followed by a City Tour on 29 October that provided cultural enrichment alongside scholarly exchange.
The committee also launched a Call for Papers, inviting researchers to submit scholarly works aligned with the theme before 30 November 2025. This initiative aims to enrich legal scholarship across western public universities and encourage contributions addressing emerging legal challenges.
This seminar reaffirms the Association’s commitment to fostering collaboration, promoting innovation in legal thought, and developing forward-looking legal professionals equipped to navigate a rapidly evolving era.
