The “Insurance vs. Legal Cases” discussion forum brought together academics, legal practitioners, regulators, and representatives of the insurance industry to discuss consumer protection and dispute resolution in the insurance sector.
The Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) held a discussion forum titled “Insurance vs. Legal Cases” on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The event took place from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. WIB at the Four Points by Sheraton Medan.
The forum brought together speakers from diverse backgrounds, including academics, legal practitioners, regulators, and representatives of the insurance industry. Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FH USU), also attended the event and delivered welcoming remarks.
The speakers included Dr. Ricardo Simanjuntak, S.H., LLM, ANZIIF, MCIArb, Senior Insurance Lawyer in Indonesia and Member of the AAJI Supervisory Board, who presented on “Consumer Protection and Dispute Resolution.” Eric Tobing, Head of the Indonesian Legal Department, also discussed “Life Insurance: Basic Principles and Industry Development.”
The forum also featured Dr. Rianto, S.E., M.Ak., Head of the OJK Directorate for Special Examinations of Insurance, Guarantee, and Pension Funds; Kombes Pol. Pratomo Satriawan, S.I.K., M.H.; Tria Arga Putra Silalahi; and Robbi Yanuar Walid, Head of Legal and Compliance at AAJI.
The discussion provided a platform for exchanging perspectives on the relationship between the insurance industry and legal matters, particularly consumer protection, dispute resolution, regulation, and developments in the insurance sector.
The forum also provided an opportunity for law enforcement officers, lawyers, members of the academic community from universities in Medan, and legal practitioners from North Sumatra and Jakarta to broaden their knowledge and discuss various legal issues related to the insurance industry.
